About Me
Hello my name is Otha Alexander and I want to thank you for visiting the “Mind and Body Health Online” Blog. This blog is designed to create awareness of disease and health issues. I will also be discussing issues on natural healing and the use of natural remedies. My motto is: Eucation Before Medication! My Credentials? Actually I have none, except the school of hard knocks. I spent 15 years of my life living in a diseased condition.
Out of control Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Panic Attacks, and Chronic Vertigo ruled my life. I was also about 20 pounds overweight. I walked on a cane for many years during this period. Even with help from doctors and medication, I was miserable. What made me take a more active part in bringing my health under control was the Vertigo. Going out was becoming more difficult because of the dizziness and feeling unbalanced.
I was desperate, and went to the Internet looking for answers. I found out that there were certain herbs that could possibly help with my Vertigo. I tried one of the herbs – I started to feel less dizzy and my balance improved. From there I started searching right down the line for each of my situations. And now while I am still working on a few things, I am 95% better than I was. All of my illnesses are either under control or gone, with many of the medications being removed from my daily regiment. When people…
…started seeing me without the cane, they started asking questions. When I told them what I was doing, they stared asking me questions about they’re particular illnesses. I looked up the information for them and either printed it out or started showing them how and where they could find it. I never told anyone that this or that would work for them, I just showed them the information and they made their own decisions. I seen that this helped a lot of people, so I decided that wanted to do it on a larger basis and so I started my website “Mind and Body Health Online”.
Now I am not telling anyone not follow the instructions of their doctors – But I am saying – Education before Medication! There are times when medications may be necessary, but I feel you should always make decisions on your health based on all the facts. You see – The body in most cases will heal itself, and there are many natural remedies that will support this healing without side affects.
So, bookmark this blog and come back often, I am sure that you will see something here that can help you one way or another. How To Give Your Children The Best Chance at Living!
What is the best gift that we can give our children?
The first word that may come to mind is love. While that is true, love encompasses a multitude of things. For instance, we show love when we get up and go off to work everyday to provide food, shelter and clothing for them. Some parents even take on two jobs! Just to make sure that their children have it better than they themselves did.
Love is shown…
…when preparations are made for their future, Such as when funds are set aside for college or to help get them off to a good start in life. Love also includes giving them special attention during the most crucial period in their lives. This is when the brain is at it’s peak for development. Before they reach the age of seven (and in particular, the first 3 years.) This is the best time to lay the best foundation possible. There are reasons for this.
80% of a child’s brains neural pathways are formed before then. Scientists only now have equipment (such as brain scanners) to see what is happening in a child’s brain; and they are reaching some very disturbing conclusions;
“the brain will trim away any brain cells that are not being stimulated in the early years”.
“The first three years, sets the basis for competence and coping skills, that will affect learning, behavior and health throughout life”.
“There is disturbing evidence that children who do not receive the nutrition
and stimulation necessary for good development in the earliest months and years of life may have great difficulty overcoming deficits later.”
“Children who receive inadequate or disruptive stimulation will be more likely
to develop learning, behavioral or emotional problems in later stages of life
(including an increased incidence of juvenile delinquency and crime for
males)”
So, how important it is that we also show love when it comes to helping our children through this very important stage of development? We want to make sure that we don’t short change them in this regard – If we truly love them we won’t.
This information was taken from “The Early Years Report” written by Paul Mackie, a professional Early Childhood Educator and Wholistic Therapist, who has worked with gifted children for over 15 years. If you would like to read Mr. Mackie’s report, you can download it by clicking here.

Why White Men Don’t Get Breast Cancer!
Actually, white men do get Breast Cancer. As well as men of other races. As a matter of fact, according to The National Cancer Institute – - In 2008, 1,990 men have been diagnosed with this disease and 450 have died. October is the Month that has been set aside for Breast Cancer Awareness, and I just wanted to bring attention to how important it is not to take this disease for granted. Women are the ones who really catch the brunt of this devastating disease. The same source above reports…
…that also in 2008, 182,460 women were diagnosed with Breast Cancer and 40,480 died. The thing is that, these numbers could be drastically reduced. With Awareness and then with education, thousands of lives may be saved. So what can you do to help? Before answering that question I like to leave you with a quote by Maya Angelou, “When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better. ”
You can help by making people aware. Go to my site and share this information with others. Click Here To Share.
Thank you for your attention.
